George W. Lehmann

George W. Lehmann always liked tales that mix fun with a bit of smarts. He taught school for years, seeing how kids get excited about new stuff. That’s what led him to write The Windy Letters, turning a lesson on vowels into an adventure. He lives in a small spot, taking walks outside and dreaming up stories that kids remember. He just wants to show young ones how cool words can be.

THE WINDY LETTERS

In The Windy Letters, there’s this guy called the Wordsmith who invents words for his village. One windy day, he drops his bag and loses the vowels, those “windy letters” that help us say words without gasping. Suddenly, stuff like cupcake becomes cpck, and homework turns into hmwrk. People get frustrated until a little girl spots the letters tumbling in the breeze. The Wordsmith fixes everything, and the villagers gather for a celebration with speeches, songs, and soup to cheer words flowing smooth again.
